Senior Systems Engineer for future 5G components

On behalf of Radiocomp, we are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to take lead responsibility for specifying and architecting sub-systems handling front-haul protocols, base band processing and synchronization functions in future 5G radio systems.

 

About MTI Radiocomp:

Radiocomp is part of the MTI group doing advanced radio and network component development for 4 and 5G network infrastructure. And Radiocomp is a competence center in the MTI group doing Software, FPGA and DVT testing of Radio Head. They work closely with their sister sites in California and Taiwan and with some of the very largest players in the 5G industry. The work is internationally organized, with close coordination between MTI sites and with customers located worldwide.

 

MTI Radiocomp – located in Hillerød - is R&D site acting as competence center within MTI for mobile baseband processing, radio SW development and radio conformance testing.

The job and team:

As the new Senior Systems Engineer, you have a passion and proven experience for architecting clever and optimized digital solutions for mobile radio implementations. With your good overall understanding of all aspects of advanced radio systems used for new 5G mobile systems, you are able to apply this background knowledge to create a solid specification and architecture foundation for the local digital design teams.

 

As part of a small team of on-site systems engineers you will take responsibility for front-haul protocols, L1 processing functions and synchronization functions used in IP core products and MTI developed 4 and 5G radio products. And in your daily work you will interact closely with the local FPGA/ASIC and embedded software development teams on requirement and architecture issues at expert level.

 

You will also participate remotely in network level design considerations, overall equipment and radio design as well as product planning together with a larger systems engineering team based in USA. You will occasionally be engaged in support and production issues with the NPI teams based in Taiwan.

 

Main tasks and responsibility:

  • Participate in overall product planning.
  • Act as project manager for the front-end process in larger projects or project manager in smaller projects.
  • Follow, understand and interpret relevant international standards.
  • Understand customer requirements and engage in customer meetings and dialog.
  • Generate sub-system requirements and architectural specifications for digital designs.
  • Engage in coaching of the design teams at the system level as well as detailed design issues.
  • Follow individual sub-system designs to ensure overall system compatibility.
  • Contribute to definition, planning and description of system test cases.
  • Participate in reviews at system, sub-system, module and test levels.

Job requirements

Your experiences and skills:

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or similar education.
  • 10+ years of experience as systems engineer within a communications equipment manufacturer or alternatively a formal education/certification as systems engineer.
  • Project management skills to lead the front-end phase of a project or act as project manager for smaller projects.
  • Understanding of mobile network and fiber optic network architectures.
  • Have a strong interest in building, a deep understanding of the mobile LTE and NR stack.
  • Strong skills within packet networks, front-haul protocols and DSP processing.
  • Understanding of synchronization requirements in a mobile network, and familiarity with synchronization schemes like GSM and IEEE1588 PTP.
  • Familiarity with system analysis/simulation using Matlab.
  • Deep understanding of digital designs in FPGA/ASIC and embedded software, and the ability to do an efficient and clever design partitioning.
  • Good understanding of ASIC/FPGA design flows using VHDL/Verilog and software design flows using C++ will be an advantage.
